Almost all agencies will claim they’re offering nurses the best deal –
and trying to compare packages can be a bewildering experience. This
page should give you enough information to evaluate AHR against other
companies which you may be considering. If you think you are getting a
better deal elsewhere, please tell us why. We want AHR to be top of the
class!
Better Pay
AHR is a direct hire agency, which means that hospitals pay us a one-off
fee for finding them suitable candidates and arranging the immigration
procedures. This means that you work directly for the hospital and you
keep 100% of your salary. Overseas nurses placed by AHR earn no less
than any of their native colleagues with similar qualifications and
experience. Most agencies are much more greedy – keeping up to $12 of
your salary for every hour you work. Over three years, that adds up to a
staggering $74,880 ($12 x 40 hours per week x 156 weeks) – money which
could have bought you an apartment or a car. Pay in the US varies from
state to state, and reflects the cost of living. To find out how much
you should be earning in any US town or city, use the salary wizard on
the Nurse Week website. With AHR, that’s the salary you will be offered.
Better Conditions
Because nurses who choose AHR are employed directly by the hospitals,
their conditions of employment are exactly the same as any of their
colleagues. You are not just an agency nurse – you are a permanent part
of the team. Recruitment is an expensive business and once they’ve found
you, hospitals want you to stay. Exact packages vary from hospital to
hospital – but core ingredients include
All costs paid for. Your US employer will pay for all immigration fees,
attorney costs, NCLEX-RN® tuition and exam fees. In total, this could be
worth as much as $18,000.
Free flights and start-up package. Free flights to the US are always
part of the package for successful candidates – and our employers tend
to offer other incentives such as free or heavily subsidised
accommodation while you are finding your way around your new home.
Free medical insurance – covering basic preventive care through to
treatment of serious illness or injury.
