The National Council of State Boards of Nursing
(NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization which develops and operates the
NCLEX® US nursing exam.
Its membership comprises the boards of nursing
in the 50 states, the
District of Columbia, and five
United States territories--American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana
Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. From 2005 it will be
possible to sit the NCLEX®
exam in three countries outside the
United States –
South Korea, England and Hong Kong.
The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools
(CGFNS) was established as a not-for-profit, immigration neutral
organization with a commitment to protect the public by ensuring that
nurses educated in countries other than the United States (U.S.) are
eligible and qualified to meet licensure and other practice requirements
in the U.S. CGFNS exams are held in many countries outside the United
States, and are regarded as a good predictor of whether a nurse is
capable of passing NCLEX®. The role of CGFNS in the UK may change
because of the decision to allow nurses in the UK to take the NCLEX®
exam in London.
NurseWeek Magazine mailed free
